This week we talk with Navy Rear Admiral Kenneth Norton about the Navy’s worldwide mission and the importance of hometown support. Artist Charles Kapsner also joins us to talk about the new service murals he’s working on for the state’s veterans cemetery near Camp Ripley.

This week’s veteran is former Airmen First Class Jesse Dale. Jessie is seeking a position in the juvenile criminal justice field. He has a bachelor’s degree from Capella University in Public Safety and Criminal Justice. He writes:

“My leadership experience, coupled with my recently completed Criminal Justice BS, has helped me develop substantial analytical and communication skills, reinforced by a formidable understanding of the principles and challenges within the justice system.”

This week, former Sgt. Maj. now Congressman, Tim Walz joins us to talk about his service and three bills he’s working on in the U.S. House’s Committee on Veterans Affairs to help our veterans. Artistic Director Leah Cooper of the Footprints Collective also joins us to talk about their new collaboration, the Veterans Play Project.

This week’s veteran is Connie Coutier of Bloomington. Connie recently completed several full time tours in support of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. As a Master Sergeant, she ran the Awards and ID Card Section for a year before becoming First Sergeant of a Soldier Readiness Center. During that mobilization she helped develop the first Pre-­Retirement Seminar program for the Army Reserve and National Guard. With more than 20 years of management experience, she is eager to continue her career helping others.

This week’s veteran is Specialist William Felsburg of Coon Rapids. William just returned from his first tour overseas. As an Administrative Assistant with the Minnesota National Guard, he was responsible for tracking and providing administrative support for 67 Soldiers in his unit. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree and career in Business Administration.
