This week’s veteran is Spec. Shawn O’Brien of Apple Valley. Shawn just returned from his second tour in Iraq and Kuwait and has been working full time with the Minnesota National Guard for the past 6 years. As a supply specialist, he was responsible for acquiring a variety of different products and managing personal records for over six hundred Soldiers. Shawn has a variety of experience in the work force but is most proficient in logistics, inventory control, customer service and leadership. This week we go back to World War II and follow Walter Schwarz and the Ritchie Boys through D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge and on through the end of the war and Carolynn Ashworth joins us to talk about the resources available to the families of deployed troops.

Tax time is quickly approaching. This week Andrea Weyer of the Minnesota Department of Revenue talks us through the tax credits available to veterans and their families and we’ll talk with Chief Master Sgt. Kelly Wilkinson about Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

This week we talk about the evolving role of women in our armed forces with the Minnesota National Guard’s Chief of Staff (Air) Col. Deon Ford and we’ll find out about loans of up to $100,000 available for veteran entrepreneurs with Nancy Libersky &  Thomas Osborne of the Small Business Administration and John Leschak of Minnwest Bank. Doug Bley also joins us for an update from the flag line of the MInnesota Patriot Guard.
