Happy Valentine’s Day from Afghanistan!

Building the infrastructure needed to feed a nation may be one of the keys to stabilizing Afghanistan. This week we’ll catch up with Col. Eric Ahlness, the commander of the Minnesota National Guard’s Agribusiness Development Team currently deployed in Zabul Province and see why the National Guard is so well suited for this critical mission.

Also, as our troops, like Marine Dick Theis, returned from Vietnam their welcome was not what they expected. We’ll explore that turbulent time in American history and how we’ve learned from our mistakes.

This week Congressman John Kilne shares his story of service in the Marines and gives us an update on his work on the House Armed Service Committee. Also, Serving Our Troops core member Ted Davis tells us about their upcoming mission, what could be their biggest yet.

This week we hear from the U.S. Navy, Marines and Coast Guard based right here in Minnesota. We’ll also take a look at the Yellow Ribbon Recognition Program. Guests include:

  • Navy Capt. Jeffrey Davis, Commanding Officer Naval Operations Support Center Minneapolis
  •  Marine Lt. Col. C. J. Busch, Commanding Officer Marine Wing Support Squadron 471
  • Petty Officer 1st Class Garrett Kravitz of Coast Guard Station Duluth
  • Annette Kuyper, Director of Military Outreach for the State of Minnesota

This week we’re live at the Mall of America with 1st Sgt. Donald Wood from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves taking about Toys for Tots, Maj. Ed Suarez joins us to talk about Relationship Resilience and finally, we take a look at health care for Servicemembers with Don Brown from the TriWest Healthcare Alliance.
